Former Gotham FC forward Ifeoma Onumonu scored two goals against her national team goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, as Montpellier faltered to Paris FC, French women’s top-flight encounter on Saturday.
It took the first 11 minutes of play for Maelle Garbino to open the scoring for the host at the Stade Charlety, Paris.
Onumonu restored parity in the 26th minute from Kethna Louis’ assist before Kessya Bussy restored Paris FC’s lead five minutes later.
The Nigeria forward equalised for the second time in the 79th minute but a late brace from Julie Dufour ended their chances of getting a point.
Onumonu played the duration of the match for Montpellier and increased her tally to three goals after six games.
She also had an assist within the same game frame in the league.
Nnadozie, on the other hand, also played the full 90 minutes for Paris FC, making seven saves from nine shots on target at the former Rivers Angels save hands.
While Paris FC is still in pole position to qualify for a third straight UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) with their third position, Montpellier occupy the seventh position with 10 points, four points behind the capital side.
