Nigeria’s team captain, William Troost-Ekong, has sparked fresh transfer speculation by hinting at Victor Osimhen’s potential next destination.
Osimhen, who played a crucial role in Napoli’s Scudetto-winning campaign last season, scoring 26 goals in 32 Serie A appearances, found himself sidelined under new manager Antonio Conte. Despite efforts to secure a move to Chelsea or Al Ahli on transfer deadline day, the 25-year-old was unable to depart as suitors balked at his €130 million release clause.
The Super Eagles striker ultimately joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan in the summer and has continued his impressive form, scoring seven goals in nine Super Lig matches and three goals in four Europa League appearances this season.
Osimhen’s performances have reignited transfer rumors, with reports linking him to several Premier League clubs. His €75 million release clause is reportedly being eyed by PSG, Manchester United, or Chelsea ahead of the winter transfer window.
However, it is Troost-Ekong’s recent comments that have raised eyebrows. In a Facebook post shared by Fabrizio Romano, the defender revealed, “I can tell you that Victor Osimhen is a Chelsea fan, I can confirm it.”
Troost-Ekong went on to praise his Super Eagles teammate, saying, “He’s a great teammate; in front of the goal, he can be very greedy, but he’s someone who speaks up for the team in the changing room; he’s a real leader, and I’m sure he’ll be captain soon.”
This statement has only added fuel to the growing speculation surrounding Osimhen’s future, with Chelsea now emerging as a potential destination for the Nigerian striker.
