Niger Tornadoes confident ahead of new Nigeria Premier Football League season

By Wale Mustapha

As preparations intensify across the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Niger Tornadoes have expressed confidence in their readiness to improve on last season’s performance when the new campaign kicks off later this month.

The Ikon Allah Boys narrowly secured top-flight survival on the final day of last season but are now aiming for a more stable and competitive showing in 2025/26.

Niger Tornadoes will begin their campaign with a home fixture against Nasarawa United on Friday, August 22.

Speaking to DAILY POST, the club’s media officer, Usman Kuta, said the team has undergone significant restructuring and is in a strong position heading into the new season.

“For our preparations, we are fully prepared for the new league season,” Kuta stated.

“With the caliber of players presently in the team — most of whom are very young and promising — we believe we can surpass last season’s performance.”

The club has focused on strengthening key positions during the off-season, with several young talents brought in to add energy and depth to the squad.

With the NPFL set to return, expectations in Minna are high as Niger Tornadoes look to begin the season on a positive note and avoid another relegation battle.
