By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Bayelsa United goalkeeper Clinton Ezekiel has praised his side’s determination after they secured a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
The Prosperity Boys stunned the Oluyole Warriors on home soil, earning three valuable points on the opening weekend of the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
“Ibadan is a very tough place to visit, but we came determined to win and with the belief that we could take all three points,” Ezekiel said after the match.
“As the game progressed, our focus was on getting the goal, and once we did, we knew victory was within our grasp,” he added.
Bayelsa United will now look to build on their impressive away success as they prepare for Matchday Two this weekend.
Up next for the Yenegoa based side is a home clash against their former coach, Ladan Bosso.
Bosso will lead newly promoted Barau FC to Yenegoa in their next game after 0-0 draw in their opening match with two time African champions, Enyimba FC.
