History Made: Esther Okoronkwo and AFC Toronto crowned 2025 NSL Supporters’ Shield Winners

History was written in Canadian women’s football as AFC Toronto, spearheaded by Nigeria forward Esther Okoronkwo, clinched the 2025 NSL Supporters’ Shield, emerging as regular season champions.

The triumph marks the first-ever professional title in Canadian women’s soccer league history, as AFC Toronto finished top of the regular season standings.

Okoronkwo has been instrumental to the club’s success this year, contributing both goals and assists in a standout campaign that has underlined her influence and consistency.

By winning the Shield, AFC Toronto not only celebrated a historic milestone for the club but also set a benchmark for women’s football in Canada, further spotlighting the growth of the National Super League (NSL).
