Super Falcons’ Esther Okoronkwo Ruled Out for Six Weeks with Knee Injury

Nigeria forward Esther Okoronkwo is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury while in action for Toronto.

The Nigerian attacker picked up the injury during Toronto’s league encounter against Halifax Tides FC earlier this week, with reports confirming damage to her meniscus.

Okoronkwo is now expected to be out for approximately six weeks as she begins recovery and rehabilitation.

Despite the setback, there is growing confidence that the Super Falcons star will regain full fitness ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, which is scheduled to kick off on July 25.

Nigeria will be eager to have the influential forward available for the continental tournament, given her importance to the national team in recent years.

Okoronkwo was one of the standout performers for the Super Falcons at the last Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where she registered two goals and six assists to help Nigeria enjoy another impressive campaign.
