Naija Ratels head coach Sabo Okalla admitted his side were unlucky to drop points after a 0–0 draw with Ibom Angels in the opening fixture of the new Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season on Wednesday in Abuja.
The visitors from Akwa Ibom proved difficult to break down, frustrating the hosts despite Naija Ratels creating several clear chances.
Okalla, who joined the Abuja-based club ahead of the season following his resignation from Confluence Queens, acknowledged that his team dominated possession but lacked finishing sharpness in the final third.
“It’s not a bad start for us,” Okalla told Nigeriafootball.ng in an exclusive interview.
“We gave it everything needed, chances were created and we controlled most of it, but that last touch coordination was not just there. We’ll look at it again and try to improve where needed to get better results in the next game.”
The result leaves both Naija Ratels and Ibom Angels with one point each as the new NWFL season gets underway.
