AFCON 2025: Super Eagles–Tunisia Clash Could Go Either Way — Ladan Bosso

Nigerian coach Ladan Bosso has described Nigeria’s Group C showdown with Tunisia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as a finely balanced contest, insisting either side has what it takes to emerge victorious.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, Bosso shared his thoughts as the Super Eagles prepare to renew their rivalry with the Carthage Eagles in Morocco in their second group fixture of the tournament.

Tunisia currently sit top of Group C after an emphatic 3–1 victory over Uganda, while Nigeria occupy second place following a hard-fought 2–1 win against Tanzania.

The encounter has been billed as another chapter in the growing rivalry between both nations, recalling their dramatic round-of-16 meeting at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, where Tunisia stunned Nigeria despite qualifying for the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.

“I don’t like predicting matches, but this game could go either way,” Bosso said.

“Both teams are strong, and all we can do is wish the Super Eagles the very best and pray they come out victorious.”

Bosso, who recently guided Nigeria to qualification for the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile, believes the Super Eagles must channel recent disappointment into motivation at AFCON 2025.

“The team must do well at the Nations Cup and aim to win it for Nigerians as compensation for missing out on the FIFA World Cup,” he added.

“They can use the disappointment of failing to qualify as motivation to fight for the title, and I urge Nigerians to continue supporting and praying for the team.”

With both sides seeking early qualification to the knockout stage, Saturday’s clash promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the AFCON group phase.
