Nigerian striker Terem Moffi will return to OGC Nice after FC Porto decided not to activate the €8 million purchase option included in his loan agreement.
Moffi joined Porto on loan in January in search of regular football after a difficult period at Nice.
His situation at the French club deteriorated following an incident in November when supporters attacked the team bus after a defeat, with Moffi among the players reportedly targeted by fans.
However, the move to Portugal did not produce the desired impact. The 27-year-old managed only two goals in 15 appearances for Porto, prompting the club to opt against making the transfer permanent.
The decision means Moffi will return to Nice, where he has just one year remaining on his current contract.
Nevertheless, reports indicate that the Ligue 1 side does not intend to keep the Super Eagles forward and will seek a transfer for him during the summer window.
The development leaves Moffi facing another important career decision as he looks to revive his form and secure regular playing time ahead of future international commitments with the Nigeria national football team.
Having previously impressed in France with both FC Lorient and Nice, the striker remains an attractive option for clubs seeking an experienced goalscorer despite his challenging spell in Portugal.
