Jakub Kamiński Seeks Improvement Against Nigeria After Poland’s Defeat to Ukraine

Poland winger Jakub Kamiński has expressed confidence that his side will improve ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly against Nigeria, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat to Ukraine in their first summer fixture.

Kamiński featured throughout the second half after replacing Oskar Pietuszewski at the break, but Poland were unable to overturn a two-goal deficit created by first-half strikes from Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko.

Poland manager Jan Urban fielded an experimental lineup and made five substitutions at halftime in a bid to change the game’s momentum. However, the changes failed to spark a comeback.

The match also saw four players earn their senior debuts, with Oskar Wójcik, Mateusz Żukowski, Norbert Wojtuszek and Kacper Potulski all handed opportunities by the coaching staff.

Reflecting on the defeat, Kamiński acknowledged that a lack of familiarity among players contributed to Poland’s struggles but remains optimistic ahead of the meeting with the Super Eagles.

“It’s obvious that some of us were playing together for the first time, and it’s normal that sometimes there was a lack of automaticity.

“We still have the match against Nigeria, and we’ll definitely improve the elements that weren’t working today,” he said, according to Sportowefakty.

Nigeria head into the encounter in Warsaw with a depleted squad following the withdrawals of key players, including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Femi Azeez, Samson Tijani, Alhassan Yusuf and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.

Despite the absences, the Super Eagles will be aiming to build on their recent positive performances as they continue preparations for upcoming competitive fixtures.
