Chiamaka Nnadozie Eager to Help Zadok Yohanna Settle After Brighton Move

Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed her delight following the arrival of Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna at Brighton & Hove Albion, pledging to help the youngster adjust to life in England after his high-profile move to the Premier League club.

Yohanna recently joined Brighton from Swedish side AIK Stockholm on a long-term contract, becoming one of the latest Nigerian talents to secure a move to one of Europe’s top leagues.

Reacting to the transfer, Nnadozie said she was thrilled to see another Nigerian join the Seagulls and is looking forward to welcoming him when she returns to England.

“I was really happy when I saw the news,” Nnadozie told ESPN.

“I’m happy for him because he understands the journey he’s been through and how much hard work it has taken to reach this stage. It’s also special for me because we’ll now have another Nigerian at the club.”

The Super Falcons star explained that Brighton regularly creates opportunities for players from the men’s and women’s teams to interact, often grouping players from the same country together during club events.

“We have bonding activities where players from both teams come together, and it’s common for the club to pair people from the same country,” she said.

“It helps everyone connect, share experiences and feel more comfortable. Having another Nigerian around will definitely be nice.”

Yohanna attracted interest from several major European clubs before choosing Brighton, a decision influenced by the club’s reputation for nurturing young talent and providing a clear pathway to first-team football.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has already praised the winger’s potential, describing him as an exciting attacking player capable of making a difference in the final third.

Having made a successful transition to English football herself, Nnadozie believes she can play a role in helping the teenager settle into his new surroundings.

The 25-year-old joined Brighton Women from Paris FC in 2025 and quickly established herself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Women’s Super League, earning a place in the Team of the Season after an impressive debut campaign.

Now one of the club’s key figures, Nnadozie says she is ready to support Yohanna both on and off the pitch.

“When I get back, I’ll definitely make him feel welcome,” she said.

“We’re based in the same environment, so it will be easy to meet up. I’ll help him however I can, show him around, introduce him to places and make sure he settles in comfortably.

“I’m genuinely happy for him and excited that another Nigerian is now part of the Brighton family.”
