16 Clubs Set for 2026 AMAPRO Football Championship in Ilorin

The countdown to the 2026 AMAPRO Football Championship has begun, with 16 clubs officially confirmed for this year’s edition scheduled to hold in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The annual tournament, designed to bridge the gap between amateur and professional football while accelerating player development, will run from July 6 to July 12.

Defending champions, House of Prayers Football Academy, will return aiming to retain their title in what is expected to be a more competitive edition featuring new and returning sides.

Matches will be played across two venues: the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl and the Kwara Football Academy Main Pitch.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Project Manager Abdulkareem Abdulazeez said the 11th edition is expected to raise the level of competition.

“We have new faces coming in this year and that changes things. It raises the level and pushes everyone to compete harder,” Abdulazeez said.

He noted that the tournament’s steady growth reflects long-term commitment to football development.

“Every edition has moved forward in one way or another, and that tells us the effort is showing. We are building something that helps football grow and gives young players a real route forward.”

Abdulazeez added that the organisers remain focused on creating opportunities and strengthening Nigeria’s football ecosystem through the championship.
