Rofiat Imuran Targets Super Falcons WAFCON Return After National Team Recall

Nigeria defender Rofiat Imuran has expressed her determination to secure a place in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following her recent recall to the national team.

The left-back, who was not part of the squad that clinched the 2024 WAFCON title, said she is focused on convincing head coach Justin Madugu that she deserves a spot in the team for the next continental tournament.

“I’m hoping this return means I’m being considered for the next WAFCON,” Imuran said.

Acknowledging the intense competition for places within the Super Falcons setup, the defender insisted she is ready to work hard and fight for her position in the squad.

According to Imuran, representing Nigeria remains one of her greatest ambitions, and she is committed to doing everything necessary to earn another opportunity with the 10-time African champions.

“I’ll keep working hard to regain my place,” she added.

The defender revealed that her immediate priority is to make the most of every opportunity, whether in training sessions or competitive matches, as she seeks to impress the coaching crew.

Imuran believes that consistent performances and dedication will boost her chances of making the final squad for the 2026 WAFCON.

“I just want the coaches to consider me when the time comes,” she stated.

As the Super Falcons continue preparations for future international assignments, competition for places in the squad remains fierce.

Imuran’s return further strengthens Nigeria’s defensive options as the coaching staff begins laying the groundwork for the defence of the country’s continental crown.
