Coach Salisu Yusuf Parts Ways with Coton Sport

Former Nigeria’s senior men’s national team assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf, has mutually terminated his contract with Benin Republic side Coton Sport.

Yusuf enjoyed a remarkable debut season with the club, guiding them to a second-place finish in the Championnat National du Bénin and securing a historic qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup—the first continental ticket in the club’s history.

His unexpected departure has left Coton Sport fans, supporters, and the Beninese media stunned, given the success recorded under his leadership.

Family sources close to the experienced tactician confirmed that both parties agreed to end the contract on mutual terms.

Yusuf is now open to new coaching opportunities, including a return to Nigeria’s national teams, the Super Eagles, clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), as well as offers from other African clubs.

Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most experienced coaches, Salisu Yusuf remains a respected figure in African football with extensive experience at both club and international levels.
