Nigeria’s five-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, the Golden Eaglets, will depart for China on Thursday night to participate in the 2026 China International Youth Football Tournament, scheduled to hold in Yinchuan from July 5 to 11.
The four-nation competition is hosted by the Chinese Football Association, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Administration of Sport, and the Yinchuan Municipal People’s Government. It is organized by the Ningxia Football Association in collaboration with the Yinchuan Sports Bureau and promoted by the China Football Industry Development Corporation.
Head Coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse will lead a 20-man squad to the tournament, assisted by Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa.
The Golden Eaglets will compete against hosts China, Australia, and Tanzania, with all matches set to be played at the Yinchuan Sports Centre Helanshan Stadium.
The tournament forms a key part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship, scheduled for September. The regional tournament will serve as the qualifying competition for next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, making the China invitational an important opportunity for the Eaglets to fine-tune their squad ahead of the crucial campaign.
