Nigeria to Host CAF Ordinary General Assembly in November, Motsepe Confirms

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has announced that Nigeria will host the next CAF Ordinary General Assembly in November, marking another significant milestone for the country’s role in African football.

Motsepe made the announcement during a press conference, confirming that the annual gathering of CAF’s 54 member associations will take place in Nigeria later this year.

The CAF Ordinary General Assembly is the governing body’s highest decision-making meeting, bringing together football administrators from across the continent to deliberate on key issues, including governance, competitions, financial reports, development initiatives, and the future direction of African football.

Nigeria’s selection as host reflects its enduring influence within the African football landscape. The country boasts a rich football heritage, having produced legendary players, enjoyed success on the continental and global stage, and hosted several prestigious CAF and FIFA tournaments over the years.

Hosting the assembly is expected to further deepen Nigeria’s partnership with CAF while providing an opportunity to demonstrate its organisational capability and football infrastructure to delegates from across Africa.

Motsepe has repeatedly stressed the need for stronger collaboration among CAF member associations as part of efforts to drive sustainable growth across the game. The November assembly is expected to provide a platform for discussions on ongoing reforms, competition expansion, governance improvements, and increased investment in football development throughout the continent.

The meeting comes at a pivotal time for CAF as it continues to implement measures aimed at strengthening African football. For Nigeria, hosting the General Assembly reinforces its status as one of the continent’s leading football nations and a key stakeholder in shaping the future of the sport in Africa.
