Arsenal sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge as replacement for Leandro Trossard

Arsenal have completed the signing of Greece international winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge on a long-term deal, with the 24-year-old brought in to fill the gap left by the departure of Leandro Trossard.

Tzolis arrives at Emirates Stadium after a prolific spell in Belgium, where he became one of Club Brugge’s standout performers. He made 108 appearances across all competitions for the Belgian side, scoring 43 goals and providing 45 assists.

Arsenal confirmed that Tzolis will wear the number 17 shirt for the Premier League champions and has already joined first-team training ahead of the new campaign. The club stated that the move remains subject to the final completion of regulatory processes.

While Arsenal did not disclose the transfer fee or contract length in their announcement, British newspaper The Sun reported that Tzolis has signed a deal running until 2031, with the move costing £35m.

The signing comes after Belgian winger Trossard left Arsenal earlier in the summer transfer window to join Turkish club Besiktas, prompting the Gunners to move for a like-for-like attacking option on the left.

Breakthrough in Greece

Tzolis began his professional career with PAOK Salonika, where he initially caught the eye in the club’s youth ranks. He scored 20 goals in 27 matches for PAOK’s youth team before being promoted to the first team in 2020.

He quickly established himself at senior level and played a key role in PAOK’s Greek Cup triumph in 2021, scoring five goals in four matches during that season’s competition.

Spells in England, the Netherlands and Germany

Following his emergence in Greece, Tzolis moved to England to join Norwich City. He made an immediate impression there, scoring twice and providing two assists on his debut against Bournemouth in the EFL Cup.

Tzolis then spent loan spells with Twente in the Netherlands and Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany, with both stints credited as important stages in his development and helping to refine his game at the top level.

Success in Belgium

In the summer of 2024, Tzolis signed for Club Brugge and swiftly became a key figure in the team. He helped the club win the Belgian Cup in 2025 and played a major part in securing the Belgian league title in the 2025-26 season.

His performances were recognised with individual honours as well, as he was named Belgian league Player of the Year in two consecutive seasons, rewarded for consistently strong displays domestically and in European competition.

Established Greece international

On the international stage, Tzolis has represented Greece at every youth level before stepping up to the senior national team. He made his debut for the Greece first team in October 2020 and has since earned 34 caps.

Arsenal’s view on new signing

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta welcomed the arrival of Tzolis and highlighted his versatility across the forward line.

Berta described Tzolis as an attacking player capable of operating on the left wing and in several positions across the front, praising his “high-level finishing ability” and “excellent skill in tight spaces”.

He added that Tzolis has produced “outstanding numbers in goals and assists over the last three seasons” and said the winger is expected to enhance Arsenal’s attacking quality while also bringing “energy and a strong mentality” to the dressing room.
