Adeyemi bids emotional farewell to Borussia Dortmund after completing Barcelona move

Karim Adeyemi has said an emotional goodbye to Borussia Dortmund and their supporters in a video message, just hours after his transfer to Barcelona was officially confirmed.

Barcelona announced on Thursday that the German winger has signed from Borussia Dortmund on a contract running until June 2031, tying the 22-year-old to the club for the long term.

Soon after being unveiled in his first press conference as a Barcelona player and taking part in the official signing ceremony, Adeyemi posted a video across his social media accounts looking back on his standout moments in Dortmund colours.

In the message, the Germany international reflected on his time with the Bundesliga side and paid tribute to those he is leaving behind.

“Four years I will never forget… Thank you to my team-mates, to the club, and to the fans for the beautiful feelings, memories and support… black and yellow forever,” Adeyemi said.

Departure after four seasons in Dortmund

Adeyemi’s message brings to a close a four-season spell with Borussia Dortmund, where he established himself as a key attacking option.

Over those four campaigns with the club known as the “Schwarzgelben” and “Asuf der Festifal” (Black and Yellows), he made 146 appearances in all competitions. During that time he scored 36 goals and provided 22 assists, underlining his impact in the final third.

His performances in Dortmund earned him regular involvement at the top level in domestic and European competition and helped elevate his profile on the international stage with Germany.

Reunion with Hansi Flick at Barcelona

The move to Barcelona will reunite Adeyemi with head coach Hansi Flick, who played an important role in his international breakthrough.

Flick handed Adeyemi his first senior cap for the Germany national team during his spell in charge of the Mannschaft, giving the forward his debut on the international stage.
