Edo Queens maintain perfect start with 3-1 win over ASEC Mimosas in WAFU B qualifiers

Edo Queens strengthened their position at the top of Group B in the WAFU B qualifiers with a 3-1 victory over ASEC Mimosas at Stade du 4 Aout in Ouagadougou.
The Nigerian side secured a second successive win in the tournament, following their emphatic 7-0 victory over AS GNN in their opening match. The latest result leaves Edo Queens well placed to advance further in the qualifying competition for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Edo Queens established control of the Group B encounter before half-time, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opening the scoring in the 23rd minute. She found the net with a powerful header to give the Nigerian side an early advantage.
ASEC Mimosas were unable to prevent Edo Queens from extending that lead before the interval. Tarnum Dooshima scored in the 41st minute, putting Edo Queens 2-0 ahead as they took a firm grip on the game.
The two-goal advantage gave the Nigerian club a strong platform after the break, and ASEC Mimosas were unable to produce a response capable of changing the direction of the match. Edo Queens continued to benefit from the lead before adding a third goal late in the contest.
Oluebube Umejiaku completed the scoring for Edo Queens in the 89th minute, effectively sealing another convincing result for the Group B leaders.
ASEC Mimosas did manage to score a late consolation goal, but the timing of the effort left them with little opportunity to mount a serious recovery. Edo Queens held on to claim a 3-1 win and maintain their unbeaten start to the tournament.
The result follows the Nigerian side’s seven-goal opening performance against AS GNN and gives them back-to-back victories in the WAFU B qualifiers. Their position at the top of Group B places them in a strong position as they seek to progress towards the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The match was played at Stade du 4 Aout in Ouagadougou, where Edo Queens produced another disciplined attacking display. Adegbuyi’s header set the tone, Dooshima’s first-half goal gave them breathing room, and Umejiaku’s late strike ensured their second consecutive victory was secured.
ASEC Mimosas’ late goal reduced the margin, but it did not alter the outcome. Edo Queens finished the match with a two-goal advantage and remain the team to beat in Group B after two wins.
