Noah Atubolu joins Eintracht Frankfurt from Freiburg on loan

German-Nigerian goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Freiburg on a season-long loan for a fee of €1m.

The 24-year-old moves between two Bundesliga clubs after spending his senior career with Freiburg, where he progressed from the club’s second team into the first-team squad. Atubolu joined Freiburg’s senior side from SC Freiburg II in July 2021.

Born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Atubolu stands 1.90m tall and is right-footed. His move gives Frankfurt another goalkeeper option for the 2026-27 campaign, with the club also involved in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the qualifying rounds of the Uefa Conference League.

Atubolu made his way through Freiburg’s academy after joining the club’s youth system from Freiburger FC. He played for SC Freiburg U17 and SC Freiburg U19 before moving to Freiburg II, helping the reserve side win the German Regionalliga Southwest and secure promotion to the third tier during the 2020-21 season.

He was part of the Freiburg squad that finished as German Cup runners-up in 2021-22. Earlier in his youth career, he won the German Under-19 Cup with Freiburg in 2017-18.

At international level, Atubolu has represented Germany and was awarded the Fritz Walter bronze medal in 2023. He also has Nigerian nationality.

Frankfurt’s new goalkeeper arrives with a market value of €25m, according to the latest valuation recorded on 27 May 2026. His move was completed on 28 August 2026, with the agreement taking him to the club until 30 June 2027.

Atubolu’s transfer brings his long association with Freiburg to a temporary close as he begins his loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt.
