Nigerian striker David Okereke was at his best on Saturday as his goal helped Cremonese earn a 2-2 draw at Salernitana.
The young forward scored what will be a contender for goal of the season in the Italian Serie A as he took a one time volley to register Cremonese’s first goal of the day.
Kryztogf Piatek had earlier shot Salernitana ahead within three minutes into the match before Okereke – who stood in for injured Cyril Dessers – connected with Frank Tsadjout’s pass to even the score his second of the season.
Lassana Coulibaly restored the host’s lead before half time as he finish up a through pass from Antonio Candreva.
Okereke and his teammates came out with more purpose in the second period and went close to restore parity earlier but not lucky.
The Nigerian striker would then paved way for Ghanaian Afena-Gyang Felix with less quarter of an hour to go and the swap paid off for Cremonese who won a late penalty. Felix fed Zannimachia in the box and the latter was hacked down in the box.
It turned a dramatic scene as the centre referee consulted the Video Assistant Referee, VAR to award the spot kick.
Daniel Ciofani had to take the spot kick twice and yet, still missed but was the quickest to react for the second rebound to make amend for his miss and recorded second Cremonese’s point on the road for this campaign.
The result has however moved Cremonese out of bottom place in the Lega Calcio.
