Patricia George: Nigeria forward announces temporary break from football

Nigeria international Patricia George has announced that she would be hanging her boots for the next 12 months.
The 26-year-old joined Fenerbahçe SK from German women’s Bundesliga side Sportclub Sand in August 2022 following a productive two years in Germany.
Since moving to the Turkish Women’s Football Super League but the American-born Nigerian footballer had has struggled with reccuring injuries.
And the Nigerian took to social media to announce that she will be taking break from football just seven months after joining the Turkish outfit.
“First, would like to thank Fenerbahce for the opportunity! About a month ago we came to an agreement to part ways and allow me to do my rehab at home,” George wrote on facebook.
“With that being said would like to let everyone know that I’ve decided to hang my soccer cleats up for at least this year and take a full break from playing soccer! It’s not a decision I made lightly but a decision that I know is right for me and my spirit. I Haven’t fully decided if I will try to make a comeback next year.
“But Right now I’m following my heart. And my heart is telling me to step away. Soccer has always been my identity so now I’m soul searching and finding myself outside of the game.
“Thank you everyone for all the support, Ive always appreciated all the love and positivity you guys send my way. Make sure to still stay tuned cause this is a new beginning and a start to a new me.”
George made her debut for the Super Falcons when they faced CSKA Moscow in the 2021 Turkish Women’s Cup but has not appeared as much with the Nigerian women’s national team due to injuries.
