The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Hon. Onoriode Joshua (Onos) Oborevwori, has welcomed the decision to stage the grand finale of the 2026 President Federation Cup at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, describing it as another significant milestone for Delta State’s reputation as Nigeria’s leading sports destination.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) recently announced that the men’s and women’s finals of the prestigious competition will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Reacting to the announcement, Hon. Oborevwori said Delta State is fully prepared to receive football stakeholders, supporters, and visitors from across the country for what promises to be a memorable football spectacle.

He noted that the choice of Asaba reflects the NFF’s confidence in the state’s world-class sporting infrastructure, proven organisational capacity, and unwavering commitment to sports development.

The Sports Commission Chairman commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his sustained investment in sports facilities and programmes, which he said has transformed the state into Nigeria’s preferred destination for major sporting events.

“We are delighted that Delta State has once again been chosen to host one of the country’s biggest football events. This recognition is a testament to the visionary leadership and unwavering support of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. “On behalf of the Delta State Sports Commission, I sincerely appreciate our Governor for creating an enabling environment where sports can thrive. We are fully committed to delivering an outstanding President Federation Cup final that will make Delta State and Nigeria proud.”

Hon. Oborevwori also assured the Nigeria Football Federation, participating teams, match officials, sponsors, and football fans that comprehensive preparations are in place to ensure a smooth, secure, and successful tournament finale.

The men’s final will see Ikorodu City take on three-time champions El-Kanemi Warriors, while the women’s title will be contested by Heartland Queens and Nasarawa Amazons.

He further called on Deltans and football enthusiasts across Nigeria to fill the Stephen Keshi Stadium and witness the climax of the country’s oldest and most prestigious domestic football competition.

The President Federation Cup remains Nigeria’s premier knockout football tournament and has consistently produced some of the most memorable moments in the nation’s football history.
