2023 AFCONQ: Victor Osimhen sets Nigeria target for Guinea-Bissau showdown
By Monsurah Olatunji

Victor Osimhen has assured Nigerian fans that the team will do ‘everything possible’ to come out victorious against Guinea-Bissau when they meet in Abuja on Friday.
The Super Eagles will face off with the Djurtus at Moshood Abiola Stadium on March 24 before taking on the same opponents at Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro three days later.
Returning from a four-month long international break, having missed the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Jose Peseiro’s men are top of the group with six points and will be looking to seal progress as in-form Napoli striker promises lot of goals.
“We are looking forward to it and I am happy to be back with the squad,” Osimhen told the NFF Media Team.
“It’s an amazing feeling and we are really expecting an amazing result in the two-legged game against Guinea-Bissau.
“We don’t underrate our opponents. We want to equally give them the respect they deserve. The boys are ready. We have high spirits. We are ready to give our all come Friday and also in the second leg in Guinea-Bissau.
“I am looking forward to the game and to contributing also to the team. I want to promise them (the fans) that we will do everything possible to get the win. I will like to contribute with a lot of goals and a couple of assists as well.
“But of course, the team comes first. I want to assure them that we’ll do everything to make them entertained and happy by getting a win and also getting a qualification to the AFCON.”
Meanwhile, Super Eagles need only six points from their remaining four games to seal their ticket to the 2023 AFCON after Sierra Leone drew 2-2 at home to Sao Tome and Principe.
