Edo State Deputy Governor receives Best Sports Performing Deputy Governor award

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon. Philip Shaibu has won the title of Best Sports Performing Deputy Governor and has been nominated to receive Nigeria’s Sports Governors Merit Award in 2022.

The award organizers are Nigeria Sports Philanthropists Award, Nigeria Sports Governors’ Merit Award 2023, Federal Ministry of Sports & Youth Development, Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), and Society for Promotion of Sports.

According to the organizers, Shaibu’s  nomination was “in recognition of his unprecedented investments and achievements in Sports Development in Edo State”.

Meanwhile, the award investiture and banquet will take place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in FCT-Abuja on may 3rd.

While the main speaker for the investiture ceremony will be Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, Rtd., Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

This is mot the first time the Deputy Governor will be recognized his exceptional contributions to the growth of sports in Edo State.

In 2020, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu was chosen as the Sun Newspapers Sports Personality of the Year by the Board of Editors and Management.

He received the prestigious award during a festive ceremony at Victoria Island’s Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel.
