Jay Jay Okocha opens up on his expectations from the current Super Eagles

Former international Austin Jay Jay Okocha has revealed that the current national squad has been less impressive and inconsistent following poor run of form at international competitions, including missing the 2022 World Cup.
Globally revered for entertaining fans with his mesmerizing displays on the pitch, Okocha is globally regarded as one of the greatest dribblers of all time and has eyes for talent.
Speaking at the unveiling of the African Heroes Penalty Cup in Lagos, the 49-year-old football entrepreneur insists that Nigeria has talents but are very inconsistent after missing out on major tournaments.
“We all want to see our Super Eagles doing well, we know how it is painful not to be in the World Cup, the team needs to steady the ship,” the legend told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“They need to be more consistent, which is so obvious that they are not. We all know that we are a demanding nation when it comes to football.
“We are not short of talents, so it is all about putting a strong team together; a team that can represent the nation the way they should. We as ex-players will always support them and wish them all the best.”
