Daniel Ihendu: Nigerian youngster joins Bundesliga side Werder Bremen

17 year old Nigerian defender, Daniel Ihendu has completed his move to German Bundesliga side, Werder Bremen ahead of new season.
Ihendu who will begin his professional stint with Bremen’s U23 team, signed a long term deal following his arrival from fellow Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig.
In a statement confirming the capture of Ihendu, Bremen said the youngster will be monitored for a possible promotion to the main team during the course of next season.
“We’re pleased to have signed a talented young centre-back in Daniel,” explained Clemens Fritz, the club’s head of professional football to the club website.
“He’s got a really good physique, is strong in the air and gets stuck in too. We’re confident that he will take the next steps in his career here with us.”
An excited Ihendu, who was born in Germany by a Nigerian father expressed delight with the prospect of continuing his profession with a top club in Bremen adding that the move is the best for his career.
“I’m looking forward to my time in Bremen and I’m certain that this is the right step for my development,” said Ihendu who will begin training with the U23s on the 5th of July.
Eligible for Nigeria and Germany, he is yet to be capped at any level by both countries but had shown his pride with his Nigerian root, posing in a national team jersey of Nigeria during an Instagram live interview.
