Victor Osimhen: Nigeria striker pip Sallah, Mahrez to Ghana’s Best African Footballer Award

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen reaffirmed his status as best player in Africa after winning the Ghana’s best African Footballer Award on Sunday.
Osimhen who won the historic Serie A title with Napoli at the just concluded season was shortlisted alongside Liverpool’s Mohammed Sallah and Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
The 24-year-old forward got the highest votes to emerge the winner of the category, claiming it for the first time following a remarkable year for Osimhen, who ended the season as top scorer in Italia Serie A with 26 goals.
On receiving the award in absentia, the Super Eagles striker expressed deep appreciation for the organizers and those who voted for him to win the award just as he promised to be more committed to his game.
“Hello everyone I’m Victor Osimhen, SSC Napoli striker. It’s a great privilege for me to win this award, it’s really a great honour,” the Napoli said via video.
“Thank you to those who voted for me and their support and major thanks to the organisers, Ghana Football Award for their love and support also I appreciate you for this recognition I’ll keep making Africa proud, thank you all and God bless you.”
