Imo State governor, Hope Uzodima has rewarded four Nigeria players to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with cash gifts.
Former Super Falcons captain, Desire Oparanozie, goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Tochukwu Oluehu and Osinachi Ohale got ten thousand dollars each from Gov Uzodima as rewards for their performances at the World Cup.
Appreciating the governor’s benevolence, Oparanozie lauded the Imo State governor for his warm reception and giant strides in sport in the state.
”Special appreciation to his excellency governor Hope Uzodinma, and her excellency Barrister Chioma Uzodinma for the warm reception,” Oparanozie said on her official Twitter handle.
“Your commitment to reward hard work and excellence is a true reflection of the great leader that you are. You have indeed raised the bar.”
The Super Falcons became the first African team to not concede a goal at the group stage of the World Cup and a defeat too.
Nigeria were later knocked out in the Round of 16 by England through penalty shootout after ending the regulation time at a stalemate.
