Nigeria FA reappoints Christopher Danjuma as U20 women head coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has re-appointed Christopher Danjuma as the coach of the Nigeria U-20 women’s national team.
Danjuma, who was in charge of the Falconets and took the team to the quarter-final of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup before guiding the team to the inaugural WAFU-B U20 Women’s Cup final, retained his post.
The tactician, who also doubles as Nasarawa Amazons gaffer scaled through after he underwent a successful screening of coaches for the job by the NFF Technical Department.
With his latest engagement, Danjuma will be assisted by former U20 and U17 girls’ assistant coach Mansur Abdullahi, and former Super Falcons’ midfielder Effioanwan Ekpo.
Ekpo is the handler of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship side and most successful women’s club in the country, Pelican Stars. She also represented Nigeria for 10 years at the international level between 2000 and 2010, featuring at the 2003 and 2007 FIFA World Cup finals in USA and China respectively.
Yahaya Audu, who has been the goalkeeper trainer of the team, also returns to his position.
The Falconets will commence their 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign with a second-round, first-leg encounter against Mauritius in Saint Pierre on Sunday, 8th October,
The return leg is scheduled for the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Saturday, 14th October 2023.
Colombia will stage the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals.
