Nigeria star Uchenna Kanu reflects on humble beginning, hawking oranges and pure water

Nigeria International, Uchenna Kanu has revealed the menial work she did during her childhood days in Aba.
The 26-year-old became the most expensive Nigeria women player of all time with her record 150,000 dollars move to Louisville from Mexican side, Tigress.
Kanu made her senior debut in the 2-1 loss to Canada on April 8 2019, amd made her second outing at the Women’s World Cup this summer, where she scored the nation’s first goal of the tournament in 3-2 win over Australia.
The Super Falcons star said she sells oranges around the streets of Aba when she was a kid and hawked sachet water too in order to make ends meet.
“I used to sell oranges when I was younger. I would peel the oranges and put them in a pan, put it on top of my head and walk around the streets of Aba, hawking them,” Kanu told Complete Sports.
“And also, I hawked water. For Nigerians who would watch this video, I sold pure water and ice water.
“Also, I would go with my brother; he would hawk soda that’s Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Pepsi. Sometimes, we will be hawking in the market and we will just see each other and then we will say, ‘Hey!’ We would laugh and then separate again.”
