Serie A: Victor Osimhen ends goal drought in Napoli big win over Udinese

By Wale Mustapha
Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen was able to ignore all the off-field issues surrounding him as he inspired Napoli to an important 4-1 win over Udinese in the Italian Serie A clash on Wednesday.
The Super Eagles’ striker has been at the center of heavy criticism following his inability to score goals for the Partenopei in the last couple of games.
The worries took a new turn over the weekend after missing a stoppage spot kick that could have earned the champions a win at Bologna resulting into the club mocking him with the missed penalty on their social media pages.
However, the former Lille front man was able to proved his worth with a clinical finish doubling the lead for the hosts against Udinese.
It was the Nigerian’s first goal for the club in five games with his last goal coming exactly a month ago in the 2-0 win over Sassuolo.
Piotr Zielinski had earlier given Napoli the lead from the spot in the 19th minute.
Kvitcha Kvaratskhelia made it 3-0 to put the game beyond the reach of the visitors with the third goal with about quarter of an hour to end the match.
Giovanni Simeone restored Napoli’s three goal cushion in less than 60 seconds after Lazar Samardzic had scored what would then be the consolation for Udinese with less than 10 minutes to end the match.
The victory takes the Italian champions to fifth with 11 points from six matches – four points behind leaders Inter Milan. They will be guest to Leece in their next domestic engagement on September 30.
