Leicester City coach, Enzo Maresca has praised Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho for his contribution after the team’s latest win over Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship on Sunday.

The former Manchester City player scored the Foxes’ third goal from the penalty spot as the team secured a 4-1 win at Blackburn.

The goal increased his tally to two after nine games this season with an assist in his kitty which received the praise of his manager.

“We expect this from Jamie, so I’m not surprised,” Maresca told the club website.

“I’m happy for Kel as well because the strikers scored. I’m happy for Kiernan also scoring. It was a complete performance.

“We tried to score since we started the game. Sometimes it happens at the beginning, and sometimes it happens at the end, but in the first 10 to 15 minutes of the second half, we dropped off a lot, but then for 25 minutes we came back and we were very good.

“It’s important to score a goal and in this game, the opponent was very tough so it’s even more important.”

With 24 points after nine games, Leicester City top the log, two points ahead of Ipswich.

A midweek game against Preston awaits Iheanacho and his teammates as they attempt an instant return to the top-flight English Premier League.
