NPFL: Abdu Maikaba laments missed chances against Abia Warriors

By Saheed Afolabi
Kano Pillars head coach, Abdu Maikaba has lamented his side’s profligacy in front of goal in their 1-0 defeat at Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.
Maikaba praised the Umuahia based club for consisting of youthful players but believes Kano Pillars were the better side, despite ruing their numerous missed chances in the encounter.
“Yes, it’s a good game because Abia Warriors is a good side full of young players. However, I believe that we were the better team, because we played better than Abia Warriors,” Maikaba told BSN Sports.
“We could have won the game because of the scoring opportunities we created, but we were unable to converted our chances in the game.
“However, I think the officiating was poor, because the referee denied us a clear cut penalty, which would have changed the direction of the game for us.
“We’ll bounce back by taking one game at a time, so we focus more on the next game and to make sure that we have a good result at home.”
The Sai Masu Gida will battle Rivers United in their next NPFL game as they are ranked 18th on the table with three points from three matches.
