Mahrez Rescues Leicester in Thrilling Draw Against West Brom

Leicester City faced a hard-fought 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Monday night, with Super Eagles duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho contributing to the action for Leicester. Iheanacho, making his second league start in six games for the club, continued his quest for his first league goal in 2017.
The intense match unfolded with former Tottenham Hotspur winger Nacer Chadli stunning the home crowd with a superb free-kick, giving West Brom the lead. However, Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez responded, leveling the score and salvaging a point for his team.
Despite Leicester’s consistent efforts, the draw places them in the relegation zone at the 18th spot with six points, while West Brom sits comfortably in 10th place with 10 points.
In a match marked by few clear-cut scoring opportunities early on, Leicester’s Danny Simpson had a notable chance with a superb volley, only to be denied by West Brom’s goalkeeper Boaz Myhill. The second half saw Leicester taking a more purposeful approach, pressing for the opener.
The turning point came when a poor back pass from a West Brom defender led to a collision with Myhill, resulting in a free-kick close to the edge of the box. Despite Leicester’s continued pressure, it was West Brom’s Chadli who found the net with a brilliant free-kick on the 63rd minute.
In the dying moments of the game, Mahrez emerged as Leicester’s savior, bringing down a cross and volleying past Myhill to secure the equalizer. The thrilling draw showcased the resilience of both teams, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their next performances in the English Premier League.
