West Ham Fans Reflect on Iheanacho’s Performance, Express Gratitude for Missed Signing

West Ham United supporters have taken to social media to express relief and satisfaction over their team’s decision not to sign Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho, following his lackluster display in Leicester’s 1-1 home draw against West Brom in the Premier League on Monday night.
Iheanacho, making only his second start in six games since joining Leicester in the summer, struggled to leave a positive impact before being substituted in the 74th minute. This performance has prompted West Ham fans to express their contentment on various social media platforms.
Prior to his move to Leicester, West Ham was reportedly in contention to sign Iheanacho, placing a £20 million bid for the Nigerian’s services. However, Leicester secured his signature by paying Manchester City £25 million, including a £50 million buy-back clause. Despite the hefty price tag, Iheanacho has yet to replicate the form that initially attracted the attention of several clubs.
According to reactions on Twitter, some West Ham fans used the opportunity to commend Slaven Bilic, the former West Ham manager, for opting out of the deal to sign Iheanacho.
A Twitter user, Cresswells Magic Hat (@Cressysmagichat), expressed doubts about Iheanacho’s performance, stating, “I know he’s not up to speed, but Iheanacho looks average for Leicester. Did we dodge a bullet or will he do the business eventually?”
Another West Ham supporter, Riley (@MajesticMasuaku), shared similar sentiments, saying, “Pretty happy we didn’t sign Iheanacho.”
Irons (@SilkyLanzini) praised Slaven Bilic for showing prudence, commenting, “Fair play to Slav for not panic buying Iheanacho… been shit for Leicester.”
Reflecting on the situation, Rob Rose (@RobRose42) stated, “Iheanacho, remember him, everyone went mad when Bilic didn’t want him, turned out to be spot on. Done nothing at Leicester.”
Thomas Smalley (@Tombythethames) added a historical perspective, saying, “Remember when people were fuming we didn’t spend 25 mil on Iheanacho or sign Renato Sanches… credit where it’s due for Slav?”
