Aluko Positively Anticipates Reading’s Turnaround in Faceoff Against Nottingham Forest

Nigerian forward Sone Aluko remains optimistic that his team, Reading, can break free from their recent struggles as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest in an upcoming English Championship clash on Tuesday. Reading’s recent form has been less than stellar, with only one win in their last five league games, resulting in four losses and a drop to the 20th position with 12 points in the 24-team league table.

The team’s most recent setback was a 2-0 home defeat to Middlesbrough, marking their seventh loss of the season alongside three wins and three draws. Ahead of their crucial encounter with Nottingham Forest, Aluko emphasized the need for hard work and perseverance to reverse their fortunes.

“In this league, you have to work and fight for every point,” Aluko stated in an interview with Readingfc.co.uk. He acknowledged the competitive nature of the league and emphasized the importance of consistent effort and focus on executing game plans effectively.

Reflecting on their recent loss to Middlesbrough, Aluko highlighted the significance of addressing defensive lapses, stating, “Against Middlesbrough, we conceded two poor goals, and that makes it harder for us to score goals because then they can sit in, and they don’t have to push forward.”

Aluko, a former Fulham star, acknowledged the challenge but maintained the belief that hard work and focus would lead to positive outcomes. Expressing confidence in the team’s abilities, he stated, “We don’t become a bad team or bad players overnight. We just have to believe and focus. Confidence can dip, but you have to be brave… that includes with the ball going forward, taking risks, and chances.”

Looking ahead to the game against Nottingham Forest, Aluko emphasized the importance of good home form and suggested that a win could serve as a platform for revitalizing the team’s morale and confidence. He concluded, “A win against Forest would be a platform to build on. A victory always lifts everyone’s spirits, their confidence, and their morale.”
