Azeez Sparks Hope Amidst Lugo’s Heartbreaking Defeat Against Real Oviedo

In a nail-biting clash between Lugo and Real Oviedo, Nigerian midfielder Ramon Azeez expressed his elation at securing his second goal of the Spanish Segunda season despite Lugo’s 3-2 loss. The midfielder, who has been a consistent force in the team, conveyed his belief that Lugo deserved at least a point from the enthralling encounter.
Azeez, who has featured in all 13 games for Lugo this season, last found the back of the net in September during their victorious match against Barcelona II. The defeat against Real Oviedo marked the end of Lugo’s four-game unbeaten streak, a setback that Azeez, who joined the Anxo Carro outfit in the summer on a free transfer, hopes the team will overcome in their upcoming Spanish second-tier fixture against Numancia.
Reflecting on the match, Azeez expressed, “We would have been happier to leave with a point on the day because I think we deserved it. We were unlucky not to have won. We must fight game after game because we have a good chance to be promoted to La Liga.”
Cristian Herrera initiated the scoring for Lugo 11 minutes into the game, only for Saul Berjon to level the proceedings with a penalty in the 51st minute. Miguel Linares then handed Real Oviedo the lead three minutes later, but Azeez, with a composed finish in the box, brought Lugo back to parity in the 61st minute.
As Lugo laments the loss, Azeez remains optimistic about the team’s future, emphasizing the need for unwavering determination in their pursuit of promotion.
