Obinna Nsofor Expresses Eagerness for Super Eagles Return Despite Stiff Competition

Cape Town City forward, Obinna Nsofor, has not ruled out the prospect of donning the iconic green and white jersey of Nigeria once more, expressing optimism despite the formidable talent pool in the current Super Eagles team. Nsofor, a versatile forward currently plying his trade in South Africa, last represented Nigeria in a friendly clash against Mexico in March 2014.
The Super Eagles, having secured their place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia alongside four other African nations, boast an array of attacking talents, with several players vying for consistent spots in the squad. Undeterred, the former Inter Milan star remains confident in his ability to make an impact at the international level.
In a recent interview with Kickoff.com, Nsofor acknowledged the competition but conveyed his openness to a return, stating, “It wouldn’t be a bad idea. But on a personal front, I think I’ve done everything I could do for my country.” He added, “Obviously, yes, it depends on my performances as well, and if I get an opportunity from now until the end of the season to go back and play for my country, it’s a plus. But my priority is totally focused on Cape Town City, to be able to achieve the objective the team has set for itself.”
With 46 caps and 11 goals to his name, Nsofor brings a wealth of experience to the table. The well-traveled striker has featured for clubs in Italy, Germany, England, and Russia, underscoring his global football journey. As the seasoned player navigates the challenges of competition and strives for success with Cape Town City, his eyes remain fixed on the possibility of a triumphant return to the Super Eagles fold.
