Super Falcons stalwart Faith Ikidi has secured the coveted title of Player of the Year for 2017 at her Swedish club, Pitea IF, marking the third occasion she has clinched this esteemed honor. This recognition follows her previous triumphs in 2011 and 2015, showcasing the consistency and excellence that Ikidi brings to her game.
The Nigeria defender shared her joy and surprise at the acknowledgment, taking to her Facebook page to express gratitude, stating, “I just received a surprise award in training this evening, player of the year for the third time 2011, 2015, and 2017.” Ikidi extended her thanks to the Almighty, her coaches, fellow players, and acknowledged the unwavering support from the club and the community.
With heartfelt appreciation, Ikidi expressed, “Since I joined Pitea IF, there has been no regret. Thank you all and thanks to Kuriren bollen. Grateful heart, God is the reason for the season. Indeed, it is my year of flourishing.”
Ikidi, formerly with Bayelsa Queens, recently inked a new two-year deal with Pitea IF, solidifying her commitment to the club. Her stellar contributions were not only acknowledged at the club level but also reflected in her participation as a crucial member of the Super Falcons squad that secured victory at the Africa Women Championship in Cameroon last year.
