Ebuehi Sees Red as Onyekuru, Onazi, Troost-Ekong Secure Wins in Sunday Football Action

Super Eagles defender Tyrone Ebuehi faced an unfortunate turn of events as he received a red card in ADO Den Haag’s 2-0 away defeat to Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday. This marked Ebuehi’s first-ever sending off in the colors of ADO Den Haag, as he received his second yellow card in the 71st minute. Vitesse capitalized on the numerical advantage, securing victory with late goals from Matt Miazga and Bryan Linssen in the 87th and 90th minute, respectively.

In the Belgian top flight, Henry Onyekuru featured for Anderlecht in a convincing 4-0 win over Kortrijk. Despite Onyekuru firing blanks in this encounter, it marked his 15th league appearance with seven goals to his name. Abduljeleel Ajagun, a former Nigeria junior international, remained an unused substitute for Kortrijk.

Turning to the Turkish Super League, Ogenyi Onazi started for Trabzonspor in their 2-1 away victory against Sivasspor. Onazi, however, saw an early substitution in the 46th minute, with Juraj Kucka taking his place.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong played a crucial role for Bursaspor in their 2-1 triumph over Karabukspor in Turkey. Troost-Ekong contributed to the defensive efforts throughout the encounter, ensuring Bursaspor secured the much-needed victory.

The Sunday football action showcased both the triumphs and challenges faced by Nigerian players on the international stage, with notable performances and unexpected setbacks.
