In an intriguing development within Moroccan football, Moghreb Tétouan has set its sights on acquiring the services of striker Chisom Chikatara from rival club Wydad Casablanca, as reported by Moroccan outlets. The prospective move gains significance as it is spearheaded by Moghreb Tétouan’s coach, Youssef Fertout, a former Wydad player and physical trainer before joining Tetouan.
Coach Fertout, expressing his readiness to secure Chikatara for the upcoming season, underscores the potential reunion between player and coach. Wydad officials speculate that the deal is likely to materialize due to the coach’s intimate knowledge of and close relationship with the player.
Chikatara, who joined Wydad Casablanca in 2016 following an impressive performance at CHAN 2018 in Rwanda, has encountered challenges in regaining his form at the club. Currently inactive, the striker has slipped to fifth in the pecking order of strikers at Wydad, featuring in nine matches and netting one goal since his departure from Abia Warriors.
Moghreb Tétouan’s interest in Chikatara is not solitary, as the club is also eyeing defenders Fadh Aktaou and Naim Aarab. The potential acquisition of these players signals Moghreb Tétouan’s strategic approach to reinforce its squad ahead of the upcoming season.
As the transfer window looms, the football community awaits the outcome of these negotiations, with the prospect of Chikatara’s move to Moghreb Tétouan offering a fresh chapter in the dynamic landscape of Moroccan football.
