Nigerian Teenager Saleh Poised for MLS Debut

In a promising development for young Nigerian footballers, Muhammed Saleh is now set to embark on a professional career in North America with Major League Soccer (MLS), as reported by Completesportsnigeria.com. Saleh’s opportunity comes just weeks after fellow Nigerian talent, Jerome Philip, signed a contract with the New York Red Bulls.

Saleh, who will soon turn 18, has been invited to try out with Toronto FC II, the second team of MLS franchise club Toronto FC. Toronto FC II competes in the United Soccer League (USL), which serves as the second level of professional soccer in the United States and Canada, with MLS being the top tier.

The young prodigy will join the team for their 2018 pre-season training camp, commencing on January 29th at the KIA Training Ground in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Known for his skill and physical prowess, Saleh primarily plays as a right-back and is highly regarded by football experts.

Saleh caught the eye of renowned US-based soccer agent Damani Ralph, who scouted him at a football tournament in Kaduna in early December. Ralph, who is Vice President at Stellar USA Soccer, the North American arm of Stellar Group, is a reputable intermediary with vast experience in the soccer industry.

Currently registered with Eco Football Club in Lagos, Saleh follows in the footsteps of notable Nigerian internationals such as Obiora Nwankwo, Raheem Lawal, Edet Ibok, and Emmanuel Ogude, who all emerged from the same team before making their mark in European clubs. Saleh now has the opportunity to make a significant leap in his career if he impresses during his month-long trial with Toronto FC II.

This exciting development further highlights the growing trend of MLS attracting young talent from across the globe, as the league continues to establish itself as a platform for promising footballers to showcase their abilities on an international stage.
