Nigerian football talent Chima Akas has inked a significant three-year contract with Swedish outfit Kalmar FF, marking a pivotal move in his career, as reported by Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).

Akas, previously associated with the Nigeria Professional Football League’s Enyimba Football Club of Aba, showcased his skills and prowess as a left-back during trials with the Swedish club in late 2022. His impressive performance during this period culminated in a permanent deal with Kalmar FF.

Despite an opportunity to represent Nigeria at the ongoing African Nations Championship in Morocco, the former Shooting Stars player opted to prioritize his transition to the European league, solidifying his commitment to Kalmar FF.

Having notably captained the Nigerian team during the CHAN 2016 in Rwanda and subsequently serving as vice-captain, Akas displayed leadership and resilience in his journey through the qualifiers for CHAN 2018 and the WAFU Nations Cup in Ghana. Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa assumed the captain’s armband during these campaigns.

Speaking on his attributes as a defender following the completion of his move, the 23-year-old shared insights with Kalmar FF’s official website, stating, “I’m a fast-paced player who excels as a left-back. My strengths lie in my ability to secure possession and deliver precise crosses.”

Akas’ transition to Kalmar FF is anticipated to bolster the team’s defensive lineup, showcasing his proficiency and potential to make an impactful contribution to their upcoming campaigns.
