Nigeria captain, Ahmed Musa has called for unity beyond football after noticing a united Nigeria for the success of their ongoing Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Cote d’Ivoire.
Nigeria which is known for frequent tribal, religious, and political disputes have been speaking with one voice of support for the national team and Musa couldn’t help but notice the love and unity the Super Eagles’ progress has brought to the people back home.
The Super Eagles are on a quest for their fourth AFCON title and their first since winning it in 2013.
Although he has not made an appearance at this year’s edition of the tournament, Musa’s impact from the bench can not be overlooked as his experience has helped the team book a semifinal berth against South Africa.
The Sivasspor forward is one of the players who last won the title for Nigeria alongside Kenneth Omeruo who also made the list for this year’s campaign.
Musa wants this unity to transcend the AFCON tournament, and he made a point to call for sustaining the state of oneness.
“Thank you, amazing supporters, for showcasing the true spirit of unity in the recent Super Eagles of Nigeria vs. Angola match,” the captain said on X.
“Despite our diverse tribes and religions, football unites us all. The songs, images, and videos flooding social media reflect our shared passion.
“Let’s carry this unity forward—together, we can achieve anything we set our minds to! #UnityInFootball #SuperEaglesFans #OneNation #TogetherWeAchieve #FootballUnites @NGSuperEagles @thenff.”
