Akor Adams faces Serie A relegation battle after Venezia’s sixth straight defeat

Akor Adams’ difficult start at Venezia has worsened after the Italian club lost 3-1 away to Atalanta for a sixth consecutive Serie A defeat.

The result leaves Venezia without a point from their opening six league matches and at the bottom of the Serie A table. They are the only side yet to secure either a win or a draw during that run.

For Adams, the latest loss adds to an increasingly challenging period at the club. Venezia have struggled to compete consistently with their opponents, while their inability to collect points has already raised concerns over their prospects of remaining in Italy’s top flight.

The defeat by Atalanta underlined the scale of the task facing the team. Although the campaign is still in its early stages, Venezia must end their losing sequence quickly if they are to prevent the gap to their relegation rivals from growing.

With the club rooted to the foot of the standings, each of their next fixtures carries greater importance. A prolonged failure to take points would make their effort to preserve their Serie A status increasingly difficult.

Adams’ position has also drawn attention among Nigerian football supporters, particularly those who had reservations about his move to Venezia. The club’s poor results have intensified those concerns, although the problems facing the team are not limited to the Super Eagles forward.

As a striker, Adams depends on a reliable supply of chances, effective attacking support and greater understanding with his team-mates. Without stronger performances across the side, it will be difficult for him to make a significant impact or find a consistent rhythm.

The responsibility for changing Venezia’s fortunes must therefore extend beyond the Nigerian international. Improvements will be required throughout the team rather than being expected from Adams alone.

Venezia still have time to improve their position, but a recovery will demand progress in several areas. Better organisation, greater defensive stability and more efficient attacking play are all needed if the club are to stop their slide.

Their immediate objective is to claim their first points of the campaign and rebuild confidence within the squad. For Adams, improved collective performances would offer the platform to show his attacking qualities and play a more influential role in the team’s response.

After six matches, Venezia have six defeats and no points. Unless that sequence changes soon, Adams and his team-mates face a long and difficult fight to avoid relegation from Serie A.
