UEFA’s Technical Observer Panel has named Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League Player of the Season ahead of Ademola Lookman.

The Gabonese ended the campaign as top scorer and also led the way in terms of goals and assists combined. He netted 10 goals in 11 starts, including a hat-trick against Ajax as the French giants reached the semi-final of the competition.

The ex-Arsenal and Barcelona forward also surpassed Radamel Falcao (30) as the 34-goal all-time Europa League leading scorer.

Despite Lookman’s hat-trick heroics in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, he is a joint 4th highest goalscorer of the tournament this season.

The 26-year-old became the first player to score a hat-trick in Europa League final history and deservedly won the man of the natch.

The Nigerian forward however helped Atalanta win the competition for the first time ever on May 22, at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
