Barau FC’s Dominic Iorfa rejects rift claims and targets return to winning form

Barau FC general manager Dominic Iorfa has denied reports of a disagreement with technical adviser Eugene Agagbe, saying his recent involvement in training was necessary because the coach was away on a CAF A Licence course.
Speculation about tension between the pair grew after Iorfa was seen on the substitute bench during Barau FC’s recent matches. The former Nigeria international said there was no conflict and explained that he had stepped in to oversee fitness work while Agagbe was unavailable.
“There is no reason to suggest that there is a rift between us,” Iorfa told the club’s media.
“The speculation may have arisen following reports that I took charge of the team’s training session after our encounter against Rangers International.
“The truth is that Coach Eugene Agagbe was away attending his CAF A Licence course, and I had to oversee the team’s fitness training in his absence.
“As General Manager, I believe in doing whatever is necessary to ensure that the team remains in good shape and continues to make progress.”
Barau FC have failed to win any of their past five Nigeria Premier Football League matches, a run that has increased pressure around the club.
Iorfa, however, has called on supporters to remain patient as the team continues its development. He said the club’s position showed progress and insisted that Barau FC had demonstrated its ability to compete in the division.
“I want our supporters to remain patient and continue to support the team. We are still building, and there is a lot of work to be done,” he said.
“We have demonstrated that we can compete in this league, and our current position reflects the progress we have made.”
The general manager also praised the competitiveness of the NPFL and the standard of officiating, pointing to the results recorded by visiting teams as evidence of a closely contested league.
“I also commend the competitive nature of the NPFL and the quality of officiating,” he added.
“Results across the league have demonstrated that visiting teams can earn points on the road, and Barau FC have benefited from this competitive balance.”
Iorfa said the club would use its forthcoming fixtures to try to end its winless run and finish the season strongly.
“We will continue to work hard, approach our subsequent fixtures with renewed determination and strive to return to winning ways,” he said.
“I assure our supporters that the club remains firmly on course, and we are determined to finish the season strongly. I urge everyone to support the team responsibly and avoid actions capable of undermining our progress.”
