Del Piero opens up on Juventus return rumours

Alessandro del Piero has revealed that rumors linking him with a return to Juventus are baseless.

There have been calls this week for Del Piero to be given a high-level position at Juve but the former player admitted that they have been no talks about a formal return to the club.

“I appreciate the desire to investigate, but right now and especially at this moment, it is inappropriate to comment on a possibility that is not on the table.

“Thanks to what happened in the past, the bond between me and these colors is amazing, regardless of what will happen. Let’s avoid comments on a hypothesis and look ahead, thanks for the embarrassment,” he added with a smile.

“There is nothing, there aren’t ulterior motives or secret meetings. I greeted everyone: Andrea [Agnelli], Pavel [Nedved] and many of my former teammates. I was happy to say greet them in person,” he told Sky Italia.

Del Piero is a cult hero at the club having represented them as a striker between 1993 and 2012 where he scored 208 goals in 513. In Italy, he represented the Azzuri 91 times scoring 27 goals between 1995 to 2008.
