Ebuka Nwenyi: Nigerian defender joins CD Cieza on free transfer from Aguilas FC

Nigerian centre-back Ebuka Nwenyi has joined CD Cieza on a free transfer from Aguilas FC, signing a deal with the Spanish club until 30 June 2027.
The 25-year-old left-footed defender moves into the Segunda Federacion Group III after spending last season with Aguilas in the Primera Federacion Group II, maintaining his status in Spanish football following another out-of-contract switch. His arrival adds experience to Cieza’s back line as they prepare for the new campaign.
Born in Ihembosi, Nwenyi has built a solid career in Spain’s lower divisions, with more than 130 league appearances across the Segunda Federacion’s various groups and the Primera Federacion. He has also featured in the Copa del Rey and other domestic competitions, underlining his familiarity with the demands of Spanish knockout and league football.
Nwenyi joined Aguilas FC in 2023, also on a free transfer, after a spell with Ourense. Before that, he had represented Merida AD and CD Mirandes B, having first moved to Spain from Nigerian side Giant Brillars in 2019. His pathway has been marked by a series of free transfers, each time stepping into a new role without a transfer fee attached.
Now valued at around €100,000, Nwenyi will be expected to bring his experience at centre-back to a Cieza side competing in Group III of the Segunda Federacion. The move completes his switch from Aguilas FC and ties him to CD Cieza for the 2026-27 season.
